H.E. Mouhamadou Makhtar Cissé of Senegal to Open the Africa E&P Summit 2020

20/02/2020

The Africa E&P Summit 2020 will welcome Senegal’s Minister of Petroleum and Energy, H.E. Mouhamadou Makhtar Cissé to London on the 20th May to open the conference with a Ministerial Keynote Address on Africa’s Energy Future. The Honourable Minister will be accompanied by a delegation from The National Oil Company of Senegal, PETROSEN, to update the industry on Senegal’s first offshore licence round which will be on-going. The Minister will highlight oil & gas exploration opportunities that exist in Senegal, aided by a stable fiscal regime and an attractive investment climate.

Joseph Medou, the Director of  PETROSEN will address the audience within the Government & NOC Showcase session on the MSGBC Basin Round of 10 offshore exploration blocks and answer questions from the audience on the prospectivity of what is on offer as well as fiscal terms and regulatory framework.

The MSGBC Basin is well established on Africa’s oil & gas map. The Basin encompasses the SNE field - the largest global discovery of 2014, the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project - the largest gas discovery of 2015 (25 tcf) and the Yakaar-1 gas well - the largest  global discovery of 2017. All located offshore Senegal and only 100km off the Dakar Peninsula, this leaves a vast area under-explored which will be of major interest to oil majors and independents with an appetite for growth. In 2020, CNOOC and Svenska/ FAR will spud two new wells south of Senegal in AGC and Guinea-Bissau; Wolverine-1 and the Atum and/or Anchova prospects respectively which the industry will be watching very closely.

Gayle Meikle, CEO of Frontier says;
“It is fitting that our conference, the Africa E&P Summit 2020 is opened by the Senegal’s Minister of Petroleum and Energy, H.E. Mouhamadou Makhtar Cissé as this is one of the most exciting regions for oil exploration on the Continent at this time. We look forward to welcoming the Honourable Minister to London and ensuring that Senegal have the best opportunity to promote their acreage and meet with investors.”
