Description
The mission of the Ministry is to maintain and improve the quality of the environment, renewable natural resources, biodiversity and water resources, the sound management of non-renewable energy resources and the promotion of renewable energy, energy saving, mitigation, adaptation to the impacts of climate change, urban regeneration, sustainable spatial planning with respect to architectural heritage, and coordination of the government's environmental policies.
The organization's focus is on liberalizing the gas and electricity market, increasing competitiveness, expanding and strengthening domestic and trans-national electricity, gas and oil transmission networks, unbundling and segregating production from the supply, free choice of supplier, the increase of the energy produced from Renewable Energy Sources, the corresponding reduction of the energy produced by conventional combustion technologies, the improving energy efficiency, energy saving and environmental protection.
