New York based Hess Corporation was founded in 1920 and is a leading global independent energy company engaged in the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas.

The company has an industry-leading position in a key U.S. shale play - the Bakken in North Dakota. Hess is also one of the largest producers in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico and a key natural gas producer and supplier to Peninsular Malaysia and Thailand. The company is engaged in exploration and appraisal activities offshore Guyana, participating in one of the industry’s largest oil discoveries in the past decade with the first phase of a planned multiphase development of the Liza Field in Guyana underway.

In March 2013, Hess Corporation announced several initiatives marking the culmination of its multi-year strategic transformation into a pure play exploration and production (“E&P”) company.

The transformed Hess now has focused portfolio of higher growth and lower risk E&P assets.

Production and reserves

Year-end proved reserves are estimated to be 1,309 million boe; organic reserve replacement was 295 percent (204 percent excluding price revisions) at a finding and development cost of approximately $5.25 per boe (approximately $7.60 per boe excluding price revisions)
