Description

Ecowende is a Dutch offshore wind energy company established as a joint venture between Shell, Eneco, and Chubu Electric Power. The company is developing and operating the Hollandse Kust West VI offshore wind farm, located approximately 53 km off the Dutch coast near IJmuiden. With an installed capacity of 760 MW, the project is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to supply around 3% of the Netherlands' current electricity demand.

Ecowende's mission is to demonstrate that large-scale offshore wind energy can be developed in harmony with nature. The company integrates innovative ecological measures—including wildlife monitoring, biodiversity enhancement, bird collision reduction technologies, and marine habitat restoration—to minimize environmental impact while accelerating the transition to clean energy. By combining renewable energy generation with environmental stewardship, Ecowende aims to set a new global benchmark for sustainable offshore wind development.
