Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd. (Sakhalin Energy) is developing the Piltun-Astokhskoye oil field and the Lunskoye gas field off the north-eastern coast of Sakhalin. Its activities include production, transportation, processing, and marketing of oil and natural gas.

The company operates under the Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) signed between Sakhalin Energy and the Russian Federation (represented by the RF Government and Sakhalin Oblast Administration) in June 1994. This Agreement was the first PSA in Russia.

Sakhalin Energy shareholders include:

  • Gazprom (50% plus one share);
  • Royal Dutch Shell plc (27,5% minus one share);
  • Mitsui (12.5%);
  • Mitsubishi (10%).

The сompany’s major assets include:

  • three offshore oil and gas platforms: Piltun-Astokhskoye-A ( PA-A / Molikpaq), Piltun-Astokhskoye-B (PA-B) and Lunskoye-A (LUN-A);
  • transsakhalin pipeline system;
  • onshore processing facility;
  • booster station;
  • oil export terminal;
  • liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant;
  • two gas transfer terminals (the gas transferred via these terminals is supplied to consumers in Sakhalin Oblast and elsewhere).
