Description

Drilling Systems was founded in 1988 and has its headquarters, design and manufacturing facilities in Bournemouth, UK.

The first suite of drilling simulation software products was launched in 1991, followed by the DrillSIM5000 series in 1992.

The first full scale Drilling and Well Control Simulators were delivered to Maersk and Schlumberger in 1993 after which time a range of smaller portable simulators and coiled tubing simulators were developed.

To meet market demand for offshore and port-side crane simulators, the KraneSIM series of products were then developed and in 2000 the DrillSIM6000 series was launched, followed by the DrillSIM-600 and the portable DrillSIM-60.

In 2017, Drilling Systems launched the industry's first 'On The Rig' portable, multi discipline simulator providing the customer with the ability to assess and develop crew competency on-site wherever they are located be it on or offshore.

In 2008 the company opened an office in Dubai and in 2014 a new purpose-built facility was opened in the Energy Corridor, Houston.

Drilling Systems has now been at the forefront of oilfield training simulation technology development for three decades.

The company's client base includes International and National Oil Companies, Drilling Contractors, Oilfield Service Companies, commercial training Schools, Equipment manufacturers and Container Terminals Operators.

Drilling Systems was acquired in April 2015 by Blue Water Energy LLP, a private equity firm investing exclusively in the energy sector.
