Incorporated on June 02, 1977, YPF S.A. is an Argentine oil company engaged in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons and the refining and distribution of chemical and petrochemical products. The company is the country's main investor and employer and second largest exporter.
The Company's Exploration and Production segment includes exploration and production activities, natural gas and crude oil purchases, sales of natural gas, and crude oil, to third parties and intersegment sales of crude oil, natural gas and its byproducts. The Company's Downstream segment is engaged in the refining, transport, purchase of crude oil and natural gas from third parties and intersegment sales, and marketing of crude oil, natural gas, refined products, petrochemicals, electric power generation and natural gas distribution.
Renewable Energy
YPF have set two main goals that will be achieved through YPF LUZ: grow from the fifth to the third largest electric power generator in Argentina, using diverse sources (more efficient thermal, wind and solar energies); and become the leader in renewables generation, with 20% of their own generation coming from renewable sources. Manantiales Behr Wind Farm started its operations in 2018. Investment for the next five years is estimated at approx. USD 3 billion.
In the next few years, oil and gas projects will continue to be part of YPF’s project portfolio. The company are then committed to reducing the total intensity of carbon emissions associated with their operations by working on concrete initiatives already underway and new ones. These projects include energy efficiency standards across all operations as well as a search for solutions for carbon capture, storage and reuse.
