The Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo, commonly known as SNPC, is the national oil company of the Republic of the Congo, established on April 23, 1998, by law to manage the State’s interests in the petroleum sector. Directly supervised by the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, SNPC serves as the technical arm of the State and custodian of the country’s petroleum industry database.
SNPC functions as both operator and equity partner in various upstream projects while overseeing a portfolio of six dynamic subsidiaries. These include SONAREP for exploration and production, ILOGS for logistics, SFP for drilling operations, SNPC Trading for international marketing, CORAF as the national refinery, and SNPC Distribution for domestic distribution activities. The SNPC Foundation also serves as its corporate legacy for social, cultural, and educational initiatives.
Within the upstream sector, SNPC holds significant stakes in numerous onshore and offshore oil and gas fields, such as Moho-Bilondo, Nkossa, M’Boundi, Kitina, Yanga, Djambala, Foukanda, Mwafi, Emeraude, Yombo, Tilapia, Azurite, Turquoise Marine-1, and others. Across the full oil value chain, the company plays a strategic role—its refining margin comes from CORAF, located in Pointe-Noire, capable of meeting around 70 percent of national fuel demand.
